Starting his final match, Momota admitted he had a poor performance in the first game. He was even ‘bullied’ by Jorgensen. But his motivation to win was so high inside of him that made him win. In addition, the crowd’s support was taking his side.
"I said, if I could win in the second set, I could become the champion. I was nervous in the first set,” Momota said.
In the second set, the 20 year old shuttler changed his strategy. Strong wind at the stadium had him careful because if he shot too hard, the shuttlecock would go out.
Following his victory, Momota said he is very delighted, especially by defeating the title defender. It is just he admitted he was lacking mentality and experience compared to his opponent in Super Series Premier level of tournament.
"Next year, I’ll be back with a better fighting spirit. I am also determined to beat Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei and other world’s top players,” he hoped.
