Longing For A Child, Pia Retires

JAKARTA - Pia Zebadiah Bernadet is planning to retire this year. The Jaya Raya badminton player said she wanted to have more time for her family.

Pia's decision to retire was announced after playing in the first round of the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIOSSP) 2016 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, (31/5). Unfortunately, Pia partnered with her brother Markis Kido lost China's mixed doubles pair, Liu Yuchen/Tang Jinhua, 9-21 and 9-21 in her last match.

"In this last match, I am just happy. I had registered already," Pia the 27 year old player said. "Actually, I don't want to say goodbye in a formal way. But my (Kido) spoke out so many people know," she said.

Pia's decision is also a part of her program to have a baby which she has planned together with her husband, Nova 'Deno' Ferdian. They got married on June 14, 2015. 

Pia performed in women's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Her achievements are among others winning the Taiwan Open GP Gold 2012 (women's doubles) and Malaysia Open GP Gold 2013 with Rizki Amelia Pradipta. In mixed doubles, she won Thailand Open GP Gold 2013 with Kido.
