Calvin / Bagas won over the Malaysians in a three game match. Losing in the first game 16-21, Calvin / Bagas equalized in the second game with a convincing lead 21-11. In the decisive third game, the Indonesian pair played more aggressively before wrapping the match with victory, 21-8.
"It's good to be in the main draw as we have been in the waiting list. We are not given specific targets by the coach, we were only told to play well. However, we do have personal targets; we want to be in the round 16 since the competition is quite tough," said Bagas after the match.
In the first round, Calvin / Bagas will challenge Thai representatives, Bodin Isara / Nipitphon Phuangphuapet. Tomorrow’s match will be their first encounter ever. Bagas claimed that Calvin and he are ready to face the Thai pair.
"We will focus more and concentrate on tomorrow's match, because we still were slightly lacking focus and concentration. One thing for sure we are certainly ready to face anyone. The strategy is not to rush instead we must keep on attacking," said Bagas.
